I am soliciting ideas for the best method to make a simple dome shaped candle dish out of sheet copper. It will be about 4" in diameter. My initial thought was to make a block of wood, hollow out the end grain, and gradually dome out a copper disk into the shape.
I also wondered if it was possible to peen both sides of the copper. Any help would be appreciated. |

That's what I would do. An end grain "die" and sink it with a small mushroom stake.
The only way to get a good peen on both sides would be to hammer it over a stake that has the dimple radius that you want (i.e. another hammer in a vise). You could probably fashion a decent stake out of a cheap ball peen hammer - That is what I have done in the past. |
